A courageous pet dog died after battling off a venomous snake in a desperate effort to rescue its owner’s 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 from a lethal bite.
Security cameras mounted outside the house in Kidapawan City, in the Philippines, shows two black and white dogs pouncing on the cobra.
Moxie, the two-year-old white dachshund, initially observed the lizard creeping into the front garden via the gate and instantly started barking at it.
Miley, the black dachshund, then went over and grabbed up the monacled cobra in its jaw.
Video shows the two courageous canines taking it in turns to fight the snake, with one biting its tail and the other one mauling its head.
Following the two-minute fight, the cobra was ultimately slain but it left Miley with serious bites.
The four-year-old dachshund did not survive her injuries and died minutes after the incident, while Moxie was left blinded by the cobra’s venom.
The incident took place last Friday when the dachshund owner’s one year-old 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 girl, Skye, was sleeping in the house.
Skye’s father, Jaime Selim claimed he and his wife, Pauie, found out about the incident when they came back home.
Jaime said: “My wife and I were gone for work. When we arrived, our assistance informed us what occurred and inspected the cams.
“We were astonished but yet very proud of the dogs. I can’t thank my dogs enough for protecting my 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 Skye. We shall miss them very much.”
They raced to a local veterinarian facility to get Moxie treated. She was miraculously survived but lost her sight from the injuries.
