For the Los Angeles Angels, Mike Trout continues to make progress in his recovery from a hand injury

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout continues to progress from a broken hamate bone.

We aren’t sure if Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani is going to be on the roster later this season to help the team push for the playoffs, but we do know that it looks like Mike Trout will be able to come back and contribute.

Trout continues to take steps in his return from a hamate bone injury.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Trout (hand/wrist) went through some running drills at Comerica Park on Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

ANALYSISAny sort of baseball activity is welcome for Trout as he works his way back from hamate bone surgery on his left hand. He will need to show he can field and hit before real progress is made, though, and it’s not clear when he might be ready for that. Trout has been sidelined for a little more than three weeks.

Trout is hitting .263 this season with 18 homers and 44 RBI.

One of the best players in the history of the sport, he’s a three-time MVP and a nine-time Silver Slugger winner.

He was also named to his 11th All-Star Game this year, but was unable to play. His eventual return to the Angels could go a long way in determining if the team will make the playoffs for the first time since 2014, but first, the baseball world is waiting to see if the Angels hold onto Ohtani.

The Halos enter play on Tuesday at 4.5 games back in the American League wild card race.
