Los Angeles Clippers Acquire James Harden

The first wild NBA trade that could happen involves James Harden joining forces with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in Los Angeles while giving the Philadelphia 76ers three new pieces around Joel Embiid.

Trade Details

Los Angeles Clippers Receive: James Harden

Philadelphia 76ers: Norman Powell, Terance Mann, Robert Covington

James Harden, a former MVP and one of the league’s premier scoring talents, would instantly elevate the Clippers’ championship aspirations. Since the guard is likely out the door in Philadelphia, the Clippers can pounce on him. Harden is an offensive force known for his elite scoring ability, playmaking s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s, and basketball IQ. His scoring prowess and ability to create for himself and his teammates would provide a significant boost to the Clippers’ offensive firepower, complementing the talents of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

While the Clippers possess talented players in Leonard and George, adding Harden would provide an additional playmaking dimension to their roster. Harden’s exceptional court vision and passing ability would alleviate some of the playmaking burdens from Leonard and George, allowing them to focus more on their scoring and defensive responsibilities. Harden’s scoring prowess, combined with his ability to draw fouls and get to the free-throw line, would provide the Clippers with another reliable scoring option and enhance their offensive versatility.

Trading away players like Covington and Mann could potentially impact the Clippers’ defensive depth. Both Covington and Mann are known for their defensive capabilities, with Covington being a versatile wing defender and Mann displaying promising defensive potential. Harden, on the other hand, has had mixed reviews regarding his defense. While he has shown improvement in certain areas, defense is not considered his strongest suit. The Clippers would need to account for potential defensive adjustments and ensure they maintain a balanced defensive approach with Harden’s arrival. Luckily, the likes of Ivica Zubac will still be able to handle the paint and protect the rim.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers don’t have to pay Harden for the long-term and give Joel Embiid some solid two-way players who will play around him and budding star Tyrese Maxey. Powell is legitimate All-Star-caliber when playing at his best, while Powell and Mann bring a ton of energy and two-way play for a team that needs more of that. Maxey jumps up to become the second offensive option, Tobias Harris becomes the team’s most valuable trade asset, and Embiid has reliable role players to trust. The new starting lineup becomes Tyrese Maxey, Norman Powell, Robert Covington, Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid.

San Antonio Spurs Form A Superstar Duo With Victor Wembanyama

Credit: Fadeaway World

The San Antonio Spurs are over the moon with Victor Wembanyama getting drafted No. 1 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, and they can make major moves to build around him and compete for an NBA championship as soon as possible.

Trade Details

San Antonio Spurs Receive: Damian Lillard

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, 2024 First-Round Pick from Charlotte, 2026 First-Round Pick from San Antonio Spurs

Damian Lillard is a bonafide superstar and one of the premier point guards in the NBA, if not the best behind Stephen Curry. Adding Lillard to the Spurs’ roster would provide them with a bona fide franchise player who excels in scoring, playmaking, and leadership. Lillard’s offensive prowess, clutch performances, and ability to create shots for himself and his teammates would transform the Spurs’ offensive capabilities and elevate their chances of returning to playoff contention.

The Spurs have been synonymous with stability and success over the past two decades, primarily led by the legendary trio of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili. However, with the departure of those stalwarts, the Spurs are now in a transition phase, with No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama becoming the new star in town. Trading for Lillard would mark a bold step towards building a new core around an established star, potentially jump-starting the next era of success in San Antonio.

San Antonio has lacked a consistent perimeter go-to scorer in recent years. Lillard’s ability to create his own shot and score from anywhere on the court would provide an immediate boost to the team’s offensive output. His deep shooting range and ability to excel in isolation and pick-and-roll situations would provide a focal point for the Spurs’ offensive schemes, taking pressure off their younger players and creating more scoring opportunities for the entire team. This past season, Dame averaged 32.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 7.3 APG on 37.1% shooting from three.

Lillard’s leadership qualities and experience in high-pressure situations would be invaluable for the Spurs’ young players. His strong work ethic, professionalism, and ability to lead by example could have a positive influence on the team’s culture and the development of their younger talent, especially the incoming Frenchman. For the Portland Trail Blazers, the franchise rebuilds completely with three talented youngsters and two first-round picks. This haul gives No. 3 overall pick Scoot Henderson the perfect core to try to improve going forward.

Atlanta Hawks Add Karl-Anthony Towns Alongside Trae Young

Credit: Fadeaway World

The Atlanta Hawks have Trae Young but nothing else in terms of star power. John Collins is finally gone, but that means the team needs a star player to relieve Young’s burden and actually make the team more dominant going forward. Meanwhile, Minnesota will make Anthony Edwards the new franchise cornerstone.

Trade Details

Atlanta Hawks Receive: Karl-Anthony Towns

Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: Dejounte Murray, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Onyeka Okongwu, 2024 First-Round Pick from Sacramento Kings, 2029 First-Round Pick

No doubt, acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns would provide the Hawks with a dominant inside presence who excels in scoring, rebounding, and rim protection. Towns’ offensive versatility, including his ability to stretch the floor with his three-point shooting, would greatly enhance the Hawks’ offensive firepower and provide a focal point for their half-court sets. Towns’ s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 set would complement Trae Young’s playmaking and scoring abilities exceptionally well.

Young’s elite court vision and ability to break down defenses with his penetrating drives would create ample opportunities for Towns to thrive. Their pick-and-roll potential would be a nightmare for opposing defenses, as Towns’ shooting threat and finishing ability would put immense pressure on defenses to make difficult decisions. Over his career so far, Towns is averaging over 39% from the three-point line, which means a pick-n-pop play would be scary to handle from a defensive point of view.

While Towns is not known for his defensive prowess, per se, the Hawks’ improved defensive scheme and personnel could help maximize his defensive contributions. Pairing Towns with versatile defenders like Clint Capela and De’Andre Hunter would provide a strong defensive foundation for the Hawks, enabling Towns to focus more on protecting the rim and using his length to disrupt opponents’ interior scoring.

The proposed trade would involve giving up young players like Murray and Okongwu, along with Bogdanovic, who had a strong season with the Hawks this past season (14.0 PPG on 40.6% 3-PT FG). Minnesota has All-Stars Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert, and surrounding them with another one in Dejounte Murray and two role players means the Timberwolves actually improve on both ends of the court while kickstarting a new era.

Toronto Raptors Take A Gamble With Kyrie Irving

Credit: Fadeaway World

The Toronto Raptors had the most success of its franchise’s career when they took a gamble on Kawhi Leonard in the 2018-19 season, and they could go after another one in Kyrie Irving. While Irving is not on Leonard’s level as a superstar player, he could be the missing piece to a surprising championship run.

Trade Details

Toronto Raptors Receive: Kyrie Irving (Sign and Trade)

Dallas Mavericks Receive: Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby, 2026 First-Round Pick

Kyrie Irving is still one of the best players in the NBA after posting 27.1 PPG, 5.1 RPG, and 5.5 APG on 37.9% shooting from three. Acquiring Irving would give the Raptors a dynamic playmaker who excels in isolation situations, can create his own shot, and has a knack for hitting clutch shots. Irving’s scoring prowess, combined with his exceptional ball-handling and shot-making s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s, would immediately elevate the Raptors’ offensive capabilities and provide them with a reliable go-to scorer.

With the departure of Kyle Lowry in recent years, along with Fred VanVleet, the Raptors are in need of a primary playmaker who can initiate the offense and create scoring opportunities for their teammates. Irving’s exceptional ball-handling and playmaking ability would fill this void, as he has a proven track record of setting up his teammates for open shots and generating offense in various situations. His presence would alleviate some of the playmaking responsibilities from other players and provide the Raptors with a more dynamic and versatile offensive attack.

Acquiring Irving would likely have a significant impact on Pascal Siakam’s role within the team. Siakam has shown immense impact as a versatile scorer and playmaker, but he has also struggled as the primary offensive option in the postseason. Irving’s scoring ability and playmaking prowess would take some of the pressure off Siakam, allowing him to thrive in a complementary role and potentially reach a new level of performance. Siakam and Kyrie would be a dynamic duo while Scottie Barnes starts building on his excellent start to his season.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks trade Kyrie Irving with the player opting for a sign-and-trade, bringing back an All-Star guard in Fred VanVleet, who can play off the ball and space the floor (37.3% career 3-PT FG). VanVleet slots into the point guard spot while OG Anunoby excels at perimeter defense and also floor-spacing (37.5% 3-PT FG) around Luka Doncic. The Mavericks need players who don’t need the ball, and both VanVleet and Anunoby fit the bill.

New York Knicks Change Franchise Stars And Acquire Zion Williamson

Credit: Fadeaway World

The New York Knicks finally made it out of the first round of the playoffs, but Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson could not lead the team any further. In fact, this could be the ceiling of the All-Star core. Instead of running it back and hoping for a miracle, the Knicks should engage the New Orleans Pelicans in a blockbuster deal for Zion Williamson.

Trade Details:

New York Knicks Receive: Zion Williamson

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Julius Randle, Obi Toppin, 2025 First-Round Pick from Milwaukee Bucks, 2026 First-Round Pick

Zion Williamson is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in the NBA. Adding Williamson to the Knicks’ roster would provide them with a dynamic and explosive player who possesses a rare combination of size, strength, and athleticism. Williamson’s ability to dominate in the paint, finish at the rim, and create his own shot would significantly elevate the Knicks’ offensive capabilities and serve as a cornerstone for the team’s future.

The Knicks have been seeking a true franchise player for years. Acquiring a player of Zion Williamson’s caliber would not only improve their on-court performance but also make the Knicks a more attractive destination for other star players in the future. Williamson’s star power and highlight-reel plays would generate excitement, increase ticket sales, and rejuvenate the Knicks’ fan base.

While Williamson is known for his offensive prowess, he has also demonstrated the potential to be an impactful defender. His combination of size, athleticism, and agility allows him to be a disruptive force in the passing lanes and an effective shot-blocker. Adding Williamson’s defensive presence to the Knicks’ lineup would improve their rim protection and overall team defense.

The Knicks are thankful for what Julius Randle has brought back, but a pick-n-roll duo with Jalen Brunson and Zion Williamson would be far more formidable. Meanwhile, the Pelicans finally rid themselves of the Zion drama and pair Julius Randle, Obi Toppin, with the core of Brandon Ingram, CJ McCollum, and Jonas Valanciunas. The two first-round picks give the Pelicans some more versatility going forward, while still competing as soon as next season.
