The long-awaited sequel to I Am Legend is officially in production, reuniting Will Smith with the post-apocalyptic world that captivated audiences in 2007.
Joining Smith in this high-stakes survival thriller is Michael B. Jordan, who plays a pivotal new character navigating the virus-ravaged landscape.
The sequel explores an alternate timeline, dismissing the original film’s theatrical ending and aligning with its alternate conclusion, where Robert Neville (Smith) survives. Decades after the virus outbreak, Neville and Jordan’s character unite in a desperate quest to reclaim humanity while facing evolved, terrifying Darkseekers.
Directed by Francis Lawrence, who helmed the original, I Am Legend 2 promises a deeper dive into the mythos of the virus and the moral dilemmas of survival. Both Smith and Jordan are also producing, with Akiva Goldsman returning as screenwriter to deliver a story that combines emotional depth with action-packed suspense.
