The internet has given people one of the greatest gifts ever, accessibility. Fans from across the country and the world can feel connected to their favorite stars in their favorite sport. Consequently, this has seen many superfans aka cheerleaders prop up over time. One of the more recent instances of a cheerleader in the NFL involves Patrick Mahomes and an 80-year-old superfan.
Patrick Mahomes is one of the most admired players in the NFL, right alongside Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. With this admiration, he has also attracted fans from across the country and the world for his performances and achievements. One of the superfans, however, is right in the Kansas City Chiefs‘ backyard.
Patrick Mahomes’ superfan going to great lengths to meet him
Kayren Spain is the superfan/cheerleader, who has been pushing continuously in her pursuit of Patrick Mahomes. She has been requesting the fan club for a meet with Patrick Mahomes for more than 3 months now. On her YouTube channel, her video requests to meet Patrick Mahomes date as far back as February. Kayren Spain has posted videos on all her social media platforms, explaining her desire to meet Mahomes before she dies.
She recently posted a 4 part video on Twitter explaining why she wanted to meet Patrick Mahomes. Kayren mentions that she has made 71 videos to date so far in her bid to meet Mahomes at the start of her 4 part series. Kayren Spain was a highschool cheerleader and found her love for football as she would go to matches with her father.
Having traveled to Paris and South Africa, Kayren got back in touch with football upon her return to America. She admits she has a thing for quarterbacks in her 4 part series. After Cam Newton retired, she couldn’t find the QB for her until she heard of Patrick Mahomes. Ever since then, she has kept up with Mahomes developing an affinity towards him. Making upwards of 70 videos in a bid to meet her favorite QB might seem a little bit unhinged, but its nothing compared to another Chiefs fans, whose story shocked fans.
Superfans come in all forms
With Kayren Spain, the vibe of a superfan is what everyone expects and thinks of. Kind natured, soft-spoken fan who wants to meet their favorite superstar once in their life. But there also other superfans who have been earmarked for the wrong reasons. With Chiefs’ superfan allegedly involved in a bank robbery.
Xaviar Babudar, a big fan of the Chiefs was found to be involved in nefarious activities. With his arrest in Oklahoma, clarity and light shed upon the situation as Babudar was accused of one charge of armed robbery and assault back in December. After being released on bond, he fled before his court appearance and has been on the run ever since. This saw him make the most wanted list for Kansas City.
Superfans, cheerleaders are the epitome of the love that the stars receive. Some superfans politely persist in their pursuit of fulfilling their dreams and meeting their favorite stars. Whereas some turn to other illegal means in order to fulfil their ambitions as a fan.
