Revealing the huge amount of money raised when the historic match between two technology billionaires Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk took place

With a viewing fee of 100 USD, the match between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk is expected to bring in record revenue.

On the night of August 6, in a post, Elon Musk said that the match between him and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg will be broadcast live on the social networking platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

“The match between Zuck and Musk will be streamed live on X. All proceeds will go to veterans’ charities,” Musk said in a post on X early Sunday morning. However, he did not provide any further details about the much-anticipated match.

The Tesla boss said that to prepare for the match, he “lifted weights all day long”, adding that because he didn’t have time to exercise, he had to bring weights to work.

When a user on X asked Musk about his views on combat, Musk responded by saying, “It’s a civilized form of fighting. Men like to fight.”

“If it’s short, I can win. If it’s long, he can win on stamina. I’m bigger and there’s a reason MMA has weight classes,” Musk added on the night of August 6.

In response, on the new Threads platform, Mark Zuckerberg quipped: “Should we use a more trusted platform to actually raise money for charity?” Zuckerberg’s message implied that X was an untrustworthy platform.

Viewers watching Mark Zuckerberg duel with Elon Musk – if this match is held – on pay-per-view live TV platforms could have to pay $100 (about more than 2.3 million VND) per view, according to UFC President Dana White.

UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) is the world’s largest martial arts event organizer and promoter. On online platforms, each UFC match has an average pay-per-view fee of about $80. At $100, Dana White expects the fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk to bring in record revenue.

The UFC match with the highest revenue in history was the match between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather in 2017. The UFC earned 600 million USD (more than 14 trillion VND) from the fee to watch the live TV broadcast of this event, not including other revenue from advertising and sponsorship.

Dana White revealed that Mark Zuckerberg contacted him to ask if Elon Musk was serious. Previously, on June 20, Elon Musk posted a challenge to Mark Zuckerberg on social media. The CEO of Meta – the founder of Facebook accepted.

Dana White then contacted Elon Musk and received confirmation from the Tesla CEO that he was completely serious about this challenge.

“This will be the biggest fight ever in history, bigger than any event ever held and will break all records for live viewing fees,” CNBC quoted Dana White.

The UFC president estimates that the fight between the two billionaires could bring in three times more revenue than the most expensive fight in UFC history – the Mayweather-McGregor fight in 2017. Dana White also suggested a way to add value to the Mark Zuckerberg-Elon Musk event, through incorporating a charity fundraising purpose.

“I don’t think they need the money. People like them can raise hundreds of millions of dollars for charity,” said Dana White.

The story of the challenge between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg began in June when Mario Nawfal, founder and CEO of International Blockchain Consulting, posted on Twitter that Meta would launch a platform that directly competes with Twitter called Threads.

Responding to Nawfal’s tweet, Elon Musk said that the launch of Threads would cause the world to be manipulated under Mark Zuckerberg’s “finger”.

One user then joked to Musk that he should be careful because Zuckerberg knows Jiu-jitsu.

The Meta boss is said to have a white belt in Jiu-Jitsu. Mark’s coach is Dave Camarillo of Guerrilla Academy, who has a black belt in Judo and Jiu-Jitsu and has trained many other champions.

However, Musk immediately replied: “I’m ready for a cage match with Zuckerberg if he accepts.”

Mark Zuckerberg then immediately took a screenshot of the above tweet and posted it on Instagram with the caption: “Send me the location.” The Tesla and Space X boss immediately responded with two words: Vegas Octagon.

Musk later revealed more about his training process to prepare for this match.

Elon Musk has been pushing live video streaming on X in recent weeks, aiming to turn the platform into a “digital city.” However, the Twitter Spaces launch event, when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his presidential candidacy, ran into technical difficulties and was delayed by nearly half an hour.
