Bryson DeChambeau’s Daring Take On ‘Tiger Woods vs Jack Nicklaus’ Debate Wreaks Havoc in Golf World

Will the Tiger Woods vs Jack Nicklaus debate ever come to rest in the golf world? Well, it might not be anytime soon or not until Woods wins three more majors to match Nicklaus’s record, which also might not be anytime soon. And thus, the GOAT debate continues with the two of the best put against each other. Who do you think Bryson DeChambeau chose between the two?

The LIV Golf gets ready for the showdown with the individual championship in Chicago this week. And amidst the preparation for the event, Crushers GC’s captain, DeChambeau was given some tough choices to make. Following the trend of choosing between two players until one reaches the final, the 2-time started with Rory McIlroy and Seve Ballesteros, where he chose the former.

Furthermore, he had to choose between Greg Norman and Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson and Tom Watson, and many others, until it came to the last two. After choosing Jack Nicklaus over Nelson Byron, DeChambeau was given the difficult choice of Nicklaus against Tiger Woods. The 30-year-old laughed, hesitated, and then said, “It’s gotta be Tiger.”

As very well known, Tiger Woods has three majors less than Jack Nicklaus’s 18 majors record, and of that difference many address Nicklaus as the better player. Not only that, the Golden Bear also has 19 second-place finishes in the majors, whereas Woods has only seven. Thus, this fan disagreed with Bryson DeChambeau, putting Woods over Nicklaus, saying, “Jack over tiger all day.”

To top it off, the 84-year-old also did not miss as many majors as Woods (22) until he was at the peak and dominated the field for most of his life. Hence, this fan opined, “Jack should’ve been the last one standing.” But does Nicklaus overpower Woods in every aspect? Not really! When the overall victories are counted, Woods holds the record for 82, while the Golden Bear has 72, where two were team victories.

Moreover, the 48-year-old was the world no. 1 for more than 600 weeks in his career, and for a decade, he could not be beaten easily. So, even though many looked at Jack Nicklaus as the perfect choice, this fan agreed with DeChambeau’s pick. They commented, “No golfer has ever been more dominant than Tiger. He beat everyone, always for so long. Arnold was competition for Jack. Tiger beat everyone by over 200 strokes for a decade.”

Another user appreciated DeChambeau being honest even though he probably guessed that the golf world might not agree with him. They said, “Honesty is appreciated there,” also praising the LIV Golf pro for choosing Woods over himself and staying humble. While many shared their verdicts on DeChambeau’s pick, some were totally on his side. One said, “Spot on! Great clip” while another commented, “100% agree.”

Who would be your choice between Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus? Just like DeChambeau, would you have gone with Woods? Share it in the comments.
