The world ‘searches’ for the reason why billionaire Elon Musk’s X network crashed

At around 10am today Vietnam time, the Downdetector website detected a large number of reports about the social network X being down and inaccessible. The most affected users were in the US: More than 27,000 reports came from this country.

In a report on the outage, Reuters said it had contacted X to ask about the cause, and X (known as Twitter before it was owned by billionaire Elon Musk) had not responded.

According to Reuters, the number of reports of the X network being down peaked at around 10:20 a.m. and lasted for an hour. Most of the affected users were app users. According to Downdetector , 69% of the reports came from app users, 25% were web users, and 6% had server connection issues. At its peak, around 1,000 reports appeared at once.

For the above reason, users think that the above problem is mainly due to the app, but the specifics are unclear.

During the incident, user X received an error message stating “Something went wrong. Try again”.

According to Downdetector , the X network outage has affected many users in the US, Europe, and even India, but there has been no official confirmation or explanation from the platform. Downdetector revealed that more than 3,300 reports have been sent from Canada and 1,600 from the UK.

CNBC from the US recalled that today’s network outage occurred not long after a conversation on X’s Spaces network between billionaire Elon Musk and US presidential candidate Donald Trump earlier this August. The conversation was interrupted by an incident that Mr. Musk described as a major cyber attack.
