Stephen Curry‘s mom, Sonya, and father, Dell Curry, shared a 33-year-long marriage before their separation in August 2021. However, both of them are quite mature and above 55 years of age. They understand what their presence means for their kids, considering the chaotic NBA lifestyle. That’s why the former NBA star went public about two weeks ago to vent his heartfelt emotions. Interestingly, his ex-wife Sonya confessed as well on June 24. However, Dell’s feelings went prior and reflected the bond the father shares with his sons.
On the Heat Check with Stephen and Dell Curry podcast‘s 11th chapter, ‘Family First,’ the father of the Curry brothers shared how he felt still being a part of their life. The whole podcast got out on June 13 this year, in which Dell stated, “Families change. Now me and your mom are not together, but we want to make sure that your guys are happy.” Here, Dell pointed out the dynamics that had changed after his divorce from his ex-wife Sonya. Both of them might be looking for different partners, yet they manage to support their original family. The love of The Curry siblings’ parents is not just limited to their kids, as Dell further said that he also wanted to make sure their “grandkids are happy.”
Dell and Sonya don’t want to compromise the peace of their families at any cost. Even Dell himself revealed in April 2023 to People that he checks in on his kids every week. It helps the kids get free of the pressure from the NBA games. As per Steph’s father’s statement, their talks are mostly about their family rather than basketball. It also helps Stephen and Seth to get their mind off trouble when they hit a dead end.

The 58-year-old Steph’s mother then shared what she and her family do to keep the Warriors star’s mind off the game. Normally, Stephen and Seth have both told their mother that they are not the basketball players in the home. Rather, they are “themselves.” However, it does not seem to be the complete truth, as both of the Curry siblings are young. Stephen has three 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, and it is not easy to clear one’s mind.

So Sonya revealed what the family does when Stephen deviates from the family talk, saying, “I think about that now, when we would tell him, ‘That’s your daddy’s work.’ Now, you can tell he is thinking about it, but he is actively trying to separate the two, and Seth does the same thing.” Ultimately and slowly, the 36-year-old might learn the art of separating the professional from the personal life completely.
Whatever we say, Steph is a highly competitive player, one of the reasons why he is so successful. Therefore, it is a part of his personality to be a little anxious.
