“Take Note Arte Moreno” Anaheim Ducks’ Gift to Mike Trout Makes Angels Fans Give a History Lesson to Owner

There was a time in so distant past when the Los Angeles Angels were Anaheim Angels. A little more back and they were the California Angels. However, in his bid to make the team financially attractive, owner Arte Moreno decided to bring LA to its name. That is something that has always irked the Anaheim fans, and now that Mike Trout has received a jersey from NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, they’ve found another reason to rue that loss of name.

The Anaheim Ducks have completely revamped their jersey this season. As a result, the team has decided to go on a branding spree where they’re gifting their jerseys to different celebs and players. Now, naturally, that would mean they’d target the biggest baseball star in Anaheim today, right? That’s true and that is why Mike Trout has just received his very own Orange and Black jersey of the Ducks.

The star was visibly delighted to get to hold this beautiful jersey. “That’s sick! Sweet,” said Trout after holding on to the jersey. Ducks have not only revamped their jersey but have also created a new logo for the team. The injured King Fish immediately noticed it and praised its creativity. However, while he was proudly holding on to that shirt, the Los Angeles Angels fans were having a slight meltdown.

For a long time, fans have asked the team to include Anaheim in its name again. After all, they aren’t really in LA, but in Orange County, Anaheim. Though initially, the fans had accepted the change due to their team’s better performance, now things are different. With the Angels currently floundering, there is a growing distance between the ownership and the fanbase. That was highlighted again when this wholesome post was met with some frustrated responses. Not only did fans wish for a name change, they wanted even more.

Mike Trout’s jersey acceptance triggers Los Angeles Angels fans’ memories

One of the key reasons why the Anaheim Ducks’ jersey has become popular is because the team has paid attention to their fanbase. “Take notes Arte Moreno and John Carpino. Anaheim ducks are giving their fans what they want & embracing Orange County (NOT LA),” wrote a fan. The design and logo do well to represent the character of Anaheim. That was something that struck many Angels fans, who’ve always been frustrated that the team of their city doesn’t even the name of it. In a way, the fans here felt a little disappointed with the Halos not taking pride in being from Anaheim.

“Susan and Henry just need to buy the Angels already,” said another supporter. Henry and Susan Samueli are owners of the Anaheim Ducks. The two purchased the Ducks from Walt Disney Company in 2005. Just like Arte Moreno they too changed the name of the franchise but unlike him, they didn’t abandon “Anaheim.” The Might Ducks of Anaheim became the Anaheim Ducks.

“Does he approve of bringing back the Anaheim Angels,” another user commented. One can’t possibly answer that. However, Trout looked visibly delighted with the Ducks’ jersey, and as the caption said he “approved” it. Now the fans hope that the superstar goes ahead and asks Moreno to bring Anaheim back to the Los Angeles Angels’ name.

“He might get hurt picking that up,” a fan said. Certainly, Mike Trout’s recent injury history has become a topic of contention among the fans. Though the star recently revealed that his return is going slower than usual, the Angels’ skipper recently made a big revelation that Trout might start training in the field soon. “Angels need to change their name back. Sell the damn team Moreno,” demanded a supporter. That is a demand that has been made for a long time. With the Halos continuing to slide downwards, its supporters are slowly demanding a major change. But can that change occur? That is a big question.

So it looks like despite Mike Trout’s excitement, this video has just given a painful flashback to the Angels fans. With their season unraveling quickly, one wonders if the pain is here to stay for them. What’s your take? Share your thoughts below.
