15-year-old genius boy bags Engineering degree in one year, sets record

A 15-year-old genius boy named Nirbhay Thacker has achieved an exceptional feat of earning an Engineering degree in just one year instead of the usual four/five years duration.

Nirbhay Thacker obtained a bachelors degree in Engineering from Gujarat Technological University (GTU), India at the young age of 15,. He completed the degree in just one year and made history as the youngest Engineer in Gujarat.

Nirbhay has always been exceptional in his studies, he passed and completed his classes 8-10 in just six months. He also completed his standard 11 and 12 classes in 3 months all in the academic year of 2015/2016.

Due to his extraordinary abilities, he finished his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) at the age of 13, thanks to the shortened duration of his schooling. Nirbhay took the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) and secured a score of 75 out of 360.

Nirbhay told Dnaindia that his future goal is to obtain ten engineering degrees within three years which encompasses the five different engineering branches thai is, electrical, mechanical, computer, instrumentation and automation, and chemical.

He said his parents, his father who is an engineer, and his mother who is a doctor, played a major role in guiding his academic journey. Nirbhay did his schooling under the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) which allows fast learners to complete schooling in a short span of time.

He has now joined the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar with plans to focus on research and product development. Nirbhay said he plans to work on next-generation technology in the Defence sector.

Aside from his plans to pursue 10 Engineering degrees, he also plans to bag a doctorate degree in Engineering. Nirbhay was presented with the Young Achiever Award by the World Education Congress.
