Kevin Durant is the 6th Player in NBA History to Reach this Feat

Kevin Durant has already reached three big career milestones only seven games into the Suns (3-4) season so far.

Durant passed Hakeem Olajuwon to move up 12th place all-time in scoring in the Suns’ second game. He then achieved his 27,000 career point in last Tuesday’s loss to the Spurs. Then on Saturday, he recorded his 7,000th career rebound vs. the 76ers.

By reaching at least 27,000 points, 7,000 career rebounds and 4,000 career assists (which he already had coming into the year), Durant is now only the sixth player in NBA history to have these numbers. He joins some of the game’s greats on this list: LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain.

To reach a career stat like this in that company shows just how good Durant really is all time.

The two-time NBA champion currently has 27,101 career points, 7,005 rebounds and 4,295 assists. On the year, Durant is averaging 29.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 35.7 minutes per game. He is having to carry the load offensively playing most games without Devin Booker and none with Bradley Beal so far. Those two could return very soon, however.

Durant needs 213 more points to pass Elvin Hayes for 11th all-time in scoring and 309 to overtake Moses Malone and move into the top-10. KD has done all of this by playing in more than 400 fewer games than these two (993 vs. over 1,300 for each of these two).

If he keeps up this scoring pace, Durant will reach 11th all-time in scoring in only eight more games and 10th in only 11 more games.

Suns’ fans should appreciate having such a legendary player on their team.
