19-year-old Chelsea youngster now tipped to be the next to break into the first team, Pochettino’s a huge fan

Chelsea youngster Alex Matos has now been tipped as the next star of tomorrow to break into the first team setup on a regular basis at Stamford Bridge.

In the know account ‘The Secret Scout’ tipped the central midfielder to make his mark, although admits he will be scrapping for minutes in the first team.

Matos has made a couple of appearances off the bench already this season, however that had been put down to the injury crisis that has hit at Cobham.

However, it seems manager Mauricio Pochettino was perhaps not as hard pushed to use him as many thought.

The Secret Scout has claimed that Matos has already gained an admirer in the form of his manager, while praising his s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s as a central midfielder.

When asked who would be next to breakthrough, he said: “Matos, Dyer.  Issue is, Lesley & Lavia.

Matos backed to breakthrough

“Battling CM. Poch likes him alot! I’m a big fan. You’d love it if he was in midfield next to you. Does all the horrible parts of the game.

“Yes can drive with the ball for sure. Can do it all.”

The main issue for the 19-year-old is likely to be the players surrounding him in terms of battling for minutes in the middle of the park.

The undroppable Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo have plenty of talent waiting in the wings if they fall to injury.

This includes Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu, Andrey Santos and Cesare Casadei, with the latter two not enjoying the most successful of loan spells up to now.

Matos can be hopeful to see more sporadic appearances as this season goes on though, and being admired by Pochettino is certainly a great place to start.
