The Kansas City Chiefs QB is staying closer to home with his pick for the MLB Fall Classic.
While the 2023 NFL season is in full swing as October comes to a close, the MLB season is coming towards an exciting end. The Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks will meet in the World Series, which begins Friday night at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
As it stands through eight weeks, the Kansas City Chiefs – led by Patrick Mahomes – are the odds-on favorites to win the Super Bowl. With Mahomes and the Chiefs being expected to make it to the very end of the NFL season, the topic of the World Series was brought up to Mahomes before practice on Wednesday.
Patrick Mahomes picks the Texas Rangers
Mahomes revealed that he was a Rangers fan growing up and will be rooting for the team to beat the Diamondbacks.
I was a big Rangers fan when I grew up, especially those high school years when they were getting to the World Series and (lost) two of them. I was able to go to some of those games, so I was a Rangers fan. I guess it’s my team if the Royals aren’t in contention. So I’m happy for them to get to the World Series. Shane Buechele is a big Rangers fan as well. So I texted him when they got there. So it is cool to see. And hopefully, they go out and win at all.
Mahomes went to high school in the Rangers’ area and played baseball during those years. He ultimately chose football, which was clearly the right decision. But he has said in the past that pitching actually helped him develop his quarterbacking s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s.
He mentions that he’s a Kansas City Royals fan, which will please all Kansas City residents. We’ll see if Mahomes gets invited out for a Rangers home game over the next week.
