‘I hope he comes’: John Obi Mikel now desperate to see ‘phenomenal’ striker join Chelsea

Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel is keen to see his countryman Victor Osimhen arrive at Stamford Bridge.

Victor Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, with 90min claiming that the Blues are monitoring the striker’s situation at Napoli.

And speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Mikel shared his desire to see Osimhen at his old club.

form this season, scoring six goals in his first eight Serie A appearances.

John Obi Mikel hopes Victor Osimhen joins Chelsea

It is quite clear which striker Mikel would like Chelsea to sign next year.

Speaking about Osimhen on his podcast, the former midfielder said: “I hope he comes to Chelsea. From the noises that I hear, he is a big United [fan], I think probably. I hope he comes to Chelsea.”

Hopefully Victor Osimhen does move to Chelsea

We would also like to see a centre-forward like Osimhen or Ivan Toney join Chelsea in 2024.

The Blues probably need a bit more firepower and the Nigeria international can obviously offer that.

Last term, he scored 26 goals in 32 league appearances, helping Napoli to win their first Serie A title in 33 years.

Hailed as a “phenomenal” footballer by Walter Mazzarri, Osimhen may be able to take Mauricio Pochettino’s side to another level.

We are not saying Chelsea’s current centre-forward options, Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja, are bad players. But the former has managed to score just two goals in the top flight so far this season, while the latter is returning from a serious injury.

Jackson and Broja are also quite young and inexperienced options. If Chelsea want to truly improve, then they may very well need to sign someone such as Osimhen.
