“A more attainable dream”: Barbie Revolutionary Margot Robbie Credited Oscar-Winning Thor Actress For Discouraging Her From Being a Magician

With Barbie becoming a blockbuster success, actress Margot Robbie is on cloud nine. The movie has over a billion dollars at the box office and is already a pop culture phenomenon. Since her breakout performance in The Wolf of Wall Street against Leonardo DiCaprio, Robbie has enjoyed a string of successes.

However, it could have been an alternative career for Robbie. During her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood, the actress wanted to become a magician. But here comes another Australian actress who discouraged her from being a magician and that’s how it took U-turn. And she has become what she is today.

Margot Robbie Names One Actor She Thinks Has Near-to-Perfect Career

During The Hollywood Reporter Actors Roundtable episode, Barbie star Margot Robbie took the chance to name one Aussie Actress whom Robbie thought was the one she wanted to look for. The host asked Robbie and her fellow actors to name someone who had almost a perfect career.

And Margot Robbie credited Thor actress Cate Blanchet, who is a two-time Academy Award winner actress as someone from whom she was inspired to become an actress.

Yeah, Cate Blanchet. Really admire the choices she’s made. And she’s Australia and she’s Australian which makes it seem like it’s a more attainable dream somehow.

Carl Blanchet

Disclosing her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood ambition, she said to Vanity Fair:

When I was a kid, I was going to be a magician. I had tricks that I felt were brilliant. ‘I’m going to be an actor,’ I didn’t decide. I had no idea that it was a job. That was something I assumed only happened to people 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in Hollywood.”

Carl Blanchet does great in whatever she’s in. In her thirty-year career, Blanchet has delivered multiple outstanding performances. The actress won the 2005 Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in The Aviator and won her second Oscar for Blue Jasmine in the lead actress category in 2014.

Margot Robbie Was not Someone who Played with Dolls in Her Childhood

She might give fans a stellar performance as Barbie in her latest blockbuster, but Robbie was not someone who used to play with dolls during her early days in Australia.

Margot Robbie

Talking to PEOPLE, she described herself as a “roll-around-in-the-mud kind of gal.”

I wasn’t actually that much of a Barbie girl as a kid. I was more of a roll-around-in-the-mud kind of gal,” she explained.

According to her, she was a girl who was fond of adventurous things during her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood. She used to prefer leaning towards unconventional play choices, and when she did interact with dolls on occasion, she opted for the offbeat ones – what she humorously described as ‘all weird’.

Barbie is now available on Prime Video.
