Patrick Mahomes responds right away to Aaron Rodgers’ horrific injury during his New York Jets debut

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes sent a message to Aaron Rodgers after his anticipated New York Jets debut ended on the first offensive drive at the MetLife Stadium

Aaron Rodgers’ debut for the New York Jets ended inside four minutes, as he was carted off the field with an ankle injury against the Buffalo Bills.

The most talked about player of the entire offseason could miss multiple weeks of his first year as a Jets player, as medical teams await a diagnosis. Rodgers was sacked by Leonard Floyd on his very first drive at MetLife Stadium, and stayed down after being hit.

Rodgers then threw his helmet in frustration and later went for X-rays to determine the extent of his ankle trouble. Reports state that the results were negative, but Rodgers had already been ruled out of the game and replaced by Zach Wilson.

It’s the cruellest start imaginable for Rodgers, with a sold out crowd absolutely devastated after months of hype and anticipation. Fellow quarterback Patrick Mahomes instantly sent a message to his new AFC rival, wishing him the best in his recovery.

“Hate that, man… Praying for the best,” Mahomes posted on Twitter as the news about Rodgers took the social media platform by storm. It had started so well for Rodgers, as his first snap as a Jet led to a 26-yard gain.

Running back Breece Hall marked his return with the carry, reminding the Jets fans of his electric pace after suffering his own injury problems last season. But the warning signs were there for Rodgers, as he was heavily pressured three times before being sacked.

The Jets failed to give him the coverage required, and now could face playing Wilson over the veteran for the foreseeable future. And the games aren’t getting any easier as the Jets travel to Dallas in Week 2, to face a Cowboys team that just won 40-0 against the New York Giants.

Mahomes suffered his own injury problems in the 2022 postseason, but managed to play through it and win the Super Bowl. Mahomes suffered a high-ankle sprain against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first playoff game for the Kansas City Chiefs last season, and was carted to the locker room and replaced by Chad Henne.

The 2022 MVP was able to return for the Chiefs and beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, but it was an issue that stayed with him throughout the postseason. The Chiefs quarterback was limping during the Super Bowl, but still managed to inspire a comeback 38-35 win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Jets play the Chiefs in Week 4, and the Rodgers vs. Mahomes match-up was selected for Monday Night Football on October 2. There’s a chance Rodgers could still make it, and from what Mahomes said on Twitter, he’s hoping so too.
