Real Madrid have yet to make an offer for Kylian Mbappé and PSG are confident of keeping the forward.

The club that wants to sign Kylian Mbappé this summer will have to pay €250million ($273m). This is the most recent position that Qatar has adopted regarding the player, anticipating the risk of losing him for free next year. Talks between PSG and his entourage took place on Sunday and the Qatari leaders left, according to consulted sources, “moderately optimistic”.

The situation remains uncertain regarding the player and his future, but what is clear is that PSG have a very similar position to last year, having a whole season to renew him and to try to persuade him to remain in the French capital. So far, after reintegrating him into the first-team dynamic under Luis Enrique, Les Parisiens have not received any offers for Mbappé.

Real Madrid offer

The player’s entourage already knows that Qatar has set his price at €250million. The Qatari representatives who went to Paris last week are still waiting for an offer from Real Madrid. If Madrid, or any club offers €250million in the final days of the summer transfer window, the France captain will leave the Ligue 1 club. Mbappé has not and will not publicly state that he wants to leave Paris, which is what PSG was hoping would happen if he really intended to leave in the summer.

If Qatar has shown one thing in recent years, it is to have strength in negotiations. For Mbappé, optimism has increased in recent days and, although there is no agreement for his renewal, PSG will have a whole season to try to make him change his mind on his stance of not extending his contract until 2025. The goal is to keep him this season and then re-enter negotiations that culminate in the signing of a contract renewal.

More Mbappé talks

After the first meeting that took place on Sunday in Paris, Qatar and Mbappé’s entourage will meet again this week in the French capital. The meeting could be attended by Nasser Al Khelaïfi, president of PSG. Mbappé and PSG are back in talks and the club are optimistic about keeping him.
