Man United Goalkeeper Bishop Joins Sunderland In Permanent Transfer

Man United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has completed a permanent transfer to Sunderland for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old joined United from Southend United in 2020 and most recently featured in the preseason friendly match against Wrexham in San Diego.

After a successful loan spell with Mansfield Town in 2021/22 where he showed his capabilities in the EFL, Sunderland have now secured his signature ahead of their Championship opener against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Sunderland have a strong relationship with United, having had Amad on loan last season where he thrived under Tony Mowbray’s management.

Bishop will provide competition for England Under-21 prospect Anthony Patterson at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland aim for promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since 2016/17, following playoff disappointment earlier this year.

The London-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 Bishop was on the bench four times in the Premier League for United last season and made four appearances in the Papa Johns Trophy.

Everyone at United wishes the hugely popular squad member the best of luck at his new club. Manager Erik ten Hag presented Nathan with a shirt signed by the players after the friendly in Las Vegas against Borussia Dortmund, recognizing his contribution and service.
