Amad Diallo has been ruled out of a potential loan move away from Manchester United due to injury.
The 21-year-old winger missed Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund with a knee problem that required further tests.
Tests have now revealed that Amad will be sidelined for the first part of the season, meaning he is now expected to remain at United beyond the transfer deadline.
According to The Athletic, Amad was attracting loan interest from Serie A clubs before sustaining the injury against Arsenal in preseason.
Amad had an impressive loan spell at Sunderland in the Championship last season, helping them clinch a playoff spot though they ultimately failed to gain promotion.
Upon returning to United, Amad hoped to stake a claim for regular minutes under new manager Erik ten Hag.
But now he will have to wait until at least January to recover from his injury before considering another loan move.
