The comparison between the NBA’s greatest players like LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Steph Curry will likely be a never-ending debate. These comparisons started again when a social media page called Real Sports shared the number of 30-point games by a guard after the age of 35.
Specifically, the data showed the number of 30-point games by Steph Curry and Michael Jordan. According to them, Curry has had 38 such games, and Jordan had 39. As a response, Jason Timpf of “Hoops Tonight” shared that James has had 118 30-point games after turning 35.
NBA fans were quick to react to what Timpf said, with some trolling him over what he pitched in.
“Glazing gone wrong,” one fan said.
“We understand you are Bron guy, but everything doesnt have to be linked to Bron. It clearly says guards on here, I am sure KDocould easily top Bron if he keeps playing till 40,” another chimed in.
“The stat specifically says “by a guard” lmao,” one person pointed out.
Meanwhile, others offered their opinions on the numbers presented.
“LeBron is three years older than Steph. I am pretty confident Steph will get to at least 90 by the time he’s done,” one person said.
“Jordan retired at 35 and then, after a hiatus, played two post-35 seasons. LeBron has played every year after turning 35,” one fan shared.
“Shocking considering MJ didn’t play at 36,37,or 38 but that’s how great MJ you need 5 years of Bron for 2 of MJs but it’s ok,” another person said.
According to Statmuse, Michael Jordan is the league’s all-time leader in 30-point games. Over 15 seasons in the league, where he played 1072 games, he hit or surpassed the 30-point mark 562 times.
LeBron James is trailing him with 560, having played 1518 games. Meanwhile, Steph Curry is 17th on the list with a total of 294 30-point performances over 978 games.
Curry put in his latest 30-point performance on Saturday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, scoring 31. James, meanwhile, dropped his most recent one on the same day when he scored 32 against the Sacramento Kings.
Jordan dropped his final 30-point game on Mar. 9, 2003, scoring 39 points against the New York Knicks as a member of the Washington Wizards. It also occurred in his final season in the league.
LeBron James has surpassed another Kareem Abdul-Jabbar record
On Feb. 7, 2023, during a contest between the LA Lakers and the OKC Thunder, LeBron James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the league’s all-time leader in points. Kareem retired with 38,387 points scored, while James now has 41,072.
This season, James surpassed Kareem in another major milestone. On Thursday against the OKC Thunder, James played 34 minutes and also logged his 57,471st minute of playing time, eclipsing Kareem (57,446).
Since then, the Lakers played the Kings once again on Saturday, where LeBron James logged another 34 minutes.
