One of the few notable events in an otherwise uneventful summer (at least so far) for the Los Angeles Lakers was their selection of Bronny James with the No. 55 pick in June’s NBA draft. The son of LeBron James played one year of college basketball at the University of Southern California, and he has become something of a polarizing figure.
While he struggled for most of his summer league stint in July, he played well in his final two games and finally started hitting with some consistency from the outside in those two contests. He has some nice physical tools to work with, and the hope is that he’ll eventually become a serviceable player at the next level.
On the elder James’ web show “The Shop,” it was revealed that when his son was drafted, superstar teammate Anthony Davis FaceTimed him, but Davis didn’t want to talk to him — the big man wanted to talk to the younger James.
Regardless of what one thinks of the younger James, he and his father are about to experience a heartwarming moment, as they will comprise the first father-son duo to play together on the same NBA team just several weeks from now.
