Did Tiger Woods make the FedEx Cup playoffs? Golf legend’s points explored

Tiger Woods will miss the FedEx Cup Playoffs since he failed to make it into the top 70 in the standings. He finished 223rd with just eight points this season.

Woods has struggled with his fitness over the last few years, and his appearances on the PGA Tour have become more sporadic since his accident in 2021. In the last five seasons, he has played in only 20 events, most of which were Majors.

This season, Tiger Woods played in only five events, four of which were major championships. He made his first start of the season at the Genesis Invitational but was forced to withdraw due to the flu. He missed the cut in three of the four majors and only made it to the weekend at the Masters Tournament. For his 60th-place finish, he received 8.2 FedEx Cup points.

The 2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs will start on August 14 at TPC Southwind in Memphis, with the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first event of the Playoffs. The top 50 players in the standings will compete at the BMW Championship, and the top 30 from there will advance to the season finale at the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.

Scottie Scheffler topped the FedEx Cup standings with 5,993 points this season. He has won six events on the PGA Tour this season. Xander Schauffele sits behind him with 4,057 points. He had a remarkable finish to the season, winning two major championships.

How has Tiger Woods performed at the FedEx Cup playoffs?

Tiger Woods has had his fair share of success in the FedEx Cup playoffs. He is one of the two players to win multiple FedEx Cup titles. His first win came in the 2007 inaugural playoff.

Tiger Woods entered the event as World No. 1 and also topped the season standings. He didn’t play the Barclays (now known as the FedEx St. Jude Championship), finished runner-up at the Deutsche Bank Championship, and then clinched wins at the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship to become the first-ever FedEx Cup champion.

Two years later, Woods again entered the FedEx Cup playoffs as the season leader. This time, he finished runner-up at the Barclays and tied for eleventh at the Deutsche Bank Championship. After two events, he was displaced by Steve Stricker as the FedEx Cup leader.

However, Woods regained the top position after winning the BMW Championship. Although Phil Mickelson beat him at the Tour Championship, he still managed to become a two-time FedEx Cup winner in three years.
