Elon Musk’s Mom Maye Musk Comments on Tesla Cybertruck Suspension & Turning Radius Following a Test Drive

Following a Tesla Cybertruck test drive, Elon Musk’s mother Maye Musk has commented on the Cybertruck’s suspension and 4-wheel steering. Maye says The Cybertruck “drive is so smooth, you feel like you’re on a cloud. And the U-turn is beyond.”

The Cybertruck has a unique design that is not everyone’s cup of tea. The truck appeals to people who are generally not regarded as “truck folks.” This has given the all-electric truck a reputation as a toy for rich people on the coasts.

We’re not sure if this new endorsement will do anything to fight against this preconception however, the Cybertruck has gotten its newest and biggest fan. And that person is none other than Elon Musk’s mother, Maye Musk.

The Cybertruck, in addition to its 30X cold-rolled stainless steel which is bulletproof to a shotgun and impenetrable to a hunting bow and arrow, also has other features designed to make the truck all the more durable.

These features include 35-inch tires, the highest ground clearance of any vehicle, industry-leading air suspension with 14 inches of travel, and so forth.

These are all exciting and will surely make the Cybertruck one of the best off-roading vehicles, however, on top of the durability features, Tesla has also designed the Cybertruck in a way that the truck is comfortable for day-to-day use in the city.

Elon Musk, while discussing the Cybertruck design back in 2020, commented about the vehicle’s new air suspension and active dumpers saying “Active ride height & active damping are game-changing for a truck or any car with a high max/min weight ratio.”

Musk said the advanced suspension system is needed to make sure the Cybertruck drive quality stays consistent whether the vehicle is carrying a heavy load or traveling with a single passenger.

This is the first Cybertruck feature Tesla designed to improve the truck’s day-to-day performance. The second biggest feature aimed at achieving the same outcome is the Cybertruck’s steering system.

The all-electric truck features 4 wheel steering in combination with a steer-by-wire variable dynamic steering ratio steering system. Both features added together give the Cybertruck a tight turning radius that only takes a 180-degree steering wheel turn at low speeds to completely turn the tires from one end to the other.

These features make the Cybertruck, which is a full-sized pickup truck, very easy to manage in tight spaces.

Since the Cybertruck has not yet started customer deliveries, although exciting on paper, no one outside Tesla has had the chance to test out the Cybertruck’s accessibility feature and say whether they are as impressive as they sound.

That’s at least until now, Elon Musk’s mother, Maye Musk appears to have recently gotten a test drive of a Cybertruck prototype and she has spoken out about her experience.

Following her drive, Maye highlighted the Cybertruck’s suspension and the vehicle’s 4-wheel steering steer-by-wire system. Maye made her Cybertruck comment in response to Lex Fridman who after experiencing the truck himself wrote saying “Cybertruck is incredible in-person 🤯 It feels like a glimpse into an awesome future.”

Maye chimed in Lex’s comment writing “The drive is so smooth, you feel like you’re on a cloud. And the U-turn is beyond.”

Although not an engineer or a car enthusiast by trade, Maye has at least experienced all Tesla vehicles, and if she’s hyping the Cybertruck’s suspension and turning radius, that means Tesla has at least outdone itself in this regard.

One thing to note here Elon Musk has previously said that the Cybertruck should have a smaller turning radius than the Tesla Model Y which is a significantly smaller vehicle with a much shorter wheelbase.

Currently, this is all the information we’ve regarding Cybertruck’s suspension and steering system and Maye Musk’s comments regarding these features. However, we’ll be sure to keep you posted as we learn more about the Cybertruck.
