Billionaire Lebron James is so rich that he destroyed a lavish mansion worth nearly 870 billion VND to rebuild, just because he didn’t like one detail.

Located in a residential area of the American rich, this luxurious mansion was once home to many famous stars.

Now in his 20th season and at 38 years old, LeBron James is one of the highest-paid athletes in the league. In addition to making money from basketball, he also makes personal investments and signs many partnership deals. As the first NBA player to reach a net worth of $1 billion, it’s not hard for “King James” to pursue a lifestyle like a king.

He lives in one of the most luxurious and expensive areas in the country – Beverly Hills (Los Angeles, California, USA). LeBron James bought this 1,200 m2 property in September 2020 for 36.75 million USD (nearly 870 billion VND), slightly lower than the original listing price of 39 million USD.

The Mediterranean-style mansion has spectacular views of the city and features four bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a cinema room, a tennis court and a swimming pool.

Inside, the home features vaulted ceilings and seven fireplaces, while large floor-to-ceiling windows maximize views and natural light.

The house is surrounded by cypress trees and bronze sculptures, exuding the charm of an ancient style.

There’s no denying that the property has plenty of amenities. LeBron James felt the house didn’t suit his style. After two years of legal troubles, the basketball star can finally tear down the lavish mansion and realize his dream of building his “dream home.”

King James’ other homes feature simple, all-white interiors and are known for his commitment to sustainability, having invested in a carbon-neutral dairy company by 2022. So it’s no surprise that his projects are LEED Platinum certified.

It’s unclear what LeBron James’ new home will look like. But regardless of the outcome, FOX Sports believes this will be where “King James” will live when he retires from the NBA.

“Being able to tear down a mansion just because you don’t like the way it looks is a whole other level of flex,” said one social media user, using the word “flex” to refer to the act of showing off one’s possessions or accomplishments. “When I’m bored, I change the curtains. But when LeBron James gets bored, he changes the whole house,” commented another.

This Beverly Hills home was first built in 1934 and has had a long list of Hollywood stars call it home ever since. Hollywood legend Charles Boyer was the first to own the property, which was later purchased by businessman Howard Hughes and rented out to actress Katharine Hepburn.

After Hepburn moved out, the house was owned by non-celebrities for many years until 1968, when screenwriters William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell spent $2.9 million to buy the mansion.

However, this is not the most expensive property in LeBron James’ collection. He also owns another mansion in Los Angeles worth 52 million USD (equivalent to 1,230 billion VND). This mansion is considered a true statement about the billionaire basketball player’s lifestyle, it is no wonder that fans call him “the king”.

LeBron James is one of the most successful basketball players both on and off the court. According to Jagran Josh, he has amassed over $385 million in salary throughout his career in the NBA.

In June 2022, Forbes magazine announced that basketball star LeBron James had officially become a billionaire, something no NBA player had ever achieved before. Another basketball billionaire, Michael Jordan, achieved the title more than a decade after he retired (in 2014).

However, Forbes said that “King James” has lived like a billionaire for many years, owning at least 3 properties, worth a total of about 80 million USD (nearly 1,900 billion VND). LeBron James built a mansion worth 10 million USD near his hometown of Akron (Ohio, USA), bought an 8-bedroom apartment in the Tony Brentwood neighborhood (Los Angeles) in 2017 for 23 million USD.
