The American newspaper reported that former US President Donald Trump once offered to sell his social network Truth Social to billionaire Elon Musk.

On March 12, the Washington Post (USA) quoted two well-informed sources as saying that last summer, former US President Donald Trump asked Elon Musk if the billionaire was interested in buying the social network Truth Social. yours or not.

At that time, Mr. Musk was running Twitter (currently X) after completing the acquisition of this social networking company for $44 billion at the end of 2022. In May 2023, Mr. Musk was appointed Ms. Linda Yaccarino is the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Twitter.

The Washington Post commented that although the negotiations with  billionaire Elon Musk  did not result in any agreement, the above information shows that “these two men have been in contact with each other more than (we) knew”.

Mr. Trump’s advisers revealed that the former president and Mr. Musk also had other conversations about politics and business.

In an interview on CNBC , Mr. Trump also said he recently met billionaire Musk.

According to  Business Insider (USA), Mr. Trump’s social network Truth Social has encountered many financial barriers since its launch in 2022. US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) records show that this platform has Loss of tens of millions of USD in 2023.

Trump Media and Technology Group, which owns Truth Social, also faces delays in its planned merger with Digital World Acquisition Corp. Last month, the SEC cleared the way for this deal – a deal that is considered a big boost for Mr. Trump.

By participating in  the race for the White House  in 2024, Mr. Trump will face a “costly war”. On March 9, the Financial Times newspaper (UK) reported that Ms. Liz Uihlein and her husband, Mr. Dick Uihlein – both American conservative businessmen and billionaires – will sponsor Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign.

Mr. Trump was once “banned” from Twitter (now renamed X) after the riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Billionaire Elon Musk restored Mr. Trump’s Twitter account in November 2022, just a few weeks after Mr. Musk took control of this social network.

However, Mr. Trump prefers to use Truth Social even though it has much fewer followers than on Twitter.

According to the Washington Post , Mr. Musk, the second richest person in the world, has increasingly voiced his support for conservative ideology on X, including repeating Mr. Trump’s unverified statements.

Last week, Mr. Musk said that Mr. Biden’s administration “is importing voters and creating a threat to national security from illegal immigrants.”
