20-year-old Chelsea player now spotted in training without knee strapping after recent injury

One Chelsea player now looks as if his recovery has taken a step up as he has been able to train without the assistance of knee strapping.

Pictures on the club’s official website from training show Malo Gusto in action without the bandaging that had been seen on his knee in the session the day before.

Gusto was one of a number of Chelsea players who withdrew from his international squad this week after deciding he would be best off recovering from his injury at Cobham.

The moment he suffered his issue is unknown, as he was used off the bench in the last Premier League game against Manchester City.

Being subbed on in place of the still-recovering Reece James, the Frenchman missed a glorious chance to give his side the lead in the pulsating affair.

His recovery seems to have gone well though, with him already being seen back in training with the first team.

Gusto spotted without knee strapping

Pictures released earlier this week though did show him with some heavy strapping on his knee, suggesting he was still cautious of the issue that had been troubling him.

However, photos from yesterday’s session showed the 20-year-old without it, perhaps pointing to the fact that it was likely a precaution.

Despite the fact James looks set to be building his fitness back up, Gusto still looks like he has an important role to play for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The club captain is yet to complete 90 minutes since making his return to the first team, and it is wise not to push him beyond what he is capable of off the back of so many serious injuries.

Therefore, expect him to continue to be replaced later in games, and therefore for Gusto to be brought on in potentially crucial stages of matches.
