“What a cr*p show!” – Former ESPN broadcaster Michelle Beadle on being fired from her ‘dream gig’ because of LeBron James

Beadle says she has already forgiven LeBron for getting her fired from ESPN.

Despite the fact that there has never been any proof to support the allegation, Michelle Beadle remains adamant that her mocking and criticizing of ‘The Decision’ in 2010 spurred LeBron James to personally get her replaced from NBA Countdown. During her appearance on the ‘Awful Announcing Podcast,’ the 47-year-old asserted that when someone like ‘King James’ wants something, people will pay attention.

“In all the chaos that ensued after I left, all this other information started coming out. I kind of got wind of it as I was leaving. And then more stuff came out, and I was just like, ‘What a cr*p show!'” Beadle said. “You know, he’s a powerful dude. I mean…. All the respect for building such a powerful entity on a name and doing it well. So, yeah, people are going to listen.”

Beadle also added that LeBron sent her numerous bouquets of flowers as part of his apology to her, confirming the veracity of all these claims.

Beadle on Rachael Nichols playing a part

Apart from acknowledging James’ involvement in wanting her out of NBA Countdown and, ultimately, ESPN, Beadle also called out Rachel Nichols. Michelle appears to believe that Rachel, who succeeded her in 2019, also contributed to her termination.

“I mean, look, she’s ultimately not that powerful. But I think some of the narrative that was being allowed to play out specifically in the New York Post at the time,” Michelle added. “I knew where it was coming from. We all knew where it was coming from.”

Michelle doesn’t trust Rachel

When asked about her relationship with Nichols, Beadle stated that, while the two might have a courteous and professional affiliation, Rachel is one of few in this business whom she will never trust.

Beadle further added in the interview that there is a difference in the manner in which Nichols replaced her and the way she replaced Sage Steele on NBA Countdown, despite that narrative being pushed at the time. Michelle ultimately believes that backstabbing is a ‘filthy’ and ‘dirty’ way to gain the upper hand on your coworker.

All of this, though, appears to be meaningless for former ESPN broadcaster now. She left NBA Countdown in the end, which is pretty unfortunate due to the fact the gig was her ‘dream job.’
