In a couple of months, Damian Lillard is all set to enter the 12th season of his NBA career. Lillard has earned the respect of most fans out there for being one of the best shooters of all time.
But if there’s one thing that Lillard can’t do, it’s to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to an NBA Championship. The Trail Blazers have failed to give Lillard a competent roster to get things done. Now, many believe that Lillard could leave the team this summer. NBA analyst Brian Windhorst says Dame joining the Miami Heat would make a lot of sense.
“Just to be clear, Dame has not indicated that he wants to leave. … It feels strange to me to talk about a team in the Finals, like the Miami Heat, but the Miami Heat make a lot of sense if Dame were to become available,” Windhorst said. “They have a number of future first-round picks they can trade. They have a number of interesting young players. It would be a really fascinating opportunity if he were to come to market.”

Windhorst clarified that Lillard is yet to show any indications to leave the Trail Blazers this summer. The scenario that the ESPN analyst discussed was only based on whether Dame was open to leaving the team.
The Miami Heat have reached the 2023 NBA Finals with Jimmy Butler doing most of the job. But if the Heat traded for a player like Lillard, it would certainly bolster their chances of winning an NBA Championship if they fail to do so this season.
Although it would require the Heat to give up on their young assets, it could be worth a try to have a shot at winning it all.
Will Damian Lillard Leave The Portland Trail Blazers?
Damian Lillard is yet to seriously give a statement about his future with the Trail Blazers. Sure, he joked about joining the Los Angeles Lakers on Instagram Live, but it was just to troll the fans.
Moreover, the Trail Blazers reportedly want to focus on trying to win an NBA Championship with Lillard on the roster. Keeping that in mind, there is no way that the 32-year-old will give up on his team.
He is one of the most loyal players in the NBA right now, and throughout his career, he has stuck with the Trail Blazers regardless of their situation.
