Billionaire tech boss Mike Cannon-Brookes has responded to reports he has moved on with a young mystery woman just weeks after splitting with his wife by saying he is ‘too busy for romance’.

The news broke late last month that the Atlassian co-founder and his wife Annie had separated after 13 years of marriage.

On Saturday the Daily Telegraph reported that Mr Cannon-Brookes had a new love interest, but a representative for the tech mogul has since laughed off the suggestion.

The news of the split, first broken by the Australian Financial Review, raised questions about how the pair will divide their estimated $19billion fortune, in addition to a $300million property empire.

The couple tied the knot in January 2010 and they eventually had four 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren together.

Late last month it was revealed that the pair were involved in a terrifying car accident just months before their marriage split, with the billionaire hospitalised due to his injuries.

They were involved in a collision in the NSW Southern Highlands earlier this year, where they own several properties.

Mr Cannon-Brookes ended up in hospital after the accident, sources told the Australian Financial Review.

Both he and his wife made a full recovery. While details are scant, the car crash was not related to their recent separation.

Ms Cannon-Brookes was working as a fashion designer and had been on her way home to Michigan when she bumped into the Atlassian CEO in the Qantas lounge at Sydney Airport more than a decade ago.

He wooed her by inviting her to an awards ceremony and they soon became a close part of one another’s lives.

Mr Cannon-Brookes had gushed over his partner in countless loved-up tweets after he got down on one knee to propose in 2009.

Following their engagement, Mr Cannon-Brookes tweeted: ‘GOT ENGAGED THIS WEEKEND! The gorgeous Miss Annie said yes!’

That same month, he said he was looking forward to dinner with Ms Cannon-Brookes after a tough day in the office.

‘Tough day at work and it’s only Monday. People ain’t easy. Annie’s bday dinner will cheer me up. Tis what family’s for right?’ he said in another tweet.

In February, 2010, after their honeymoon, the businessman shared another loved-up post.

‘Back at work after marrying the wonderful Mrs Annie C-B and six-week honeymoon. Woo!’ he said.

A few months later he shared his hopes for their future together.

‘Great read for anyone who likes to travel and has kids. I hope Annie and I are a cool travelling family in the future!’ he tweeted.

As Mr Cannon-Brookes climbed the Rich List ranks, the pair went on to amass an almost $300 million property portfolio with mansions in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, Northern Beaches and the Southern Highlands.

The couple’s 1.1-hectare Fairwater home in Point Piper where the late Lady Mary Fairfax lived has been the most extravagant of their purchases.

They snapped it up in 2018 despite its intimidating $100million price tag which made it the most expensive house in Australia at the time.

‘We love the idea of raising our four young 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren in this historic property, filling the house and gardens with love and laughter through the years,’ Mr Cannon-Brookes told Domain .

In June Mr Cannon-Brookes and his wife forked out $14.25million to buy a home in Newport, on Sydney’s northern beaches, neighbouring the $24.5million estate they purchased in 2020.

The five-bedroom home is set on a 3,000 square-metre block of land and features a 1,000 square metre netted bathing area.

The home was also located three doors down from another of their properties, acquired for $2.35million in 2020.

The couple also spent $2.55million on a fisherman’s cottage out at Great Mackerel Beach on the northern beaches which is accessible only by boat.

Ms Cannon-Brookes told a journalist in 2016 that she and her husband were ‘lucky’ to share the same goals.

‘One of our biggest is to provide as normal an existence for our kids as possible,’ she said.

On their tenth anniversary, Annie shared an image from their wedding day and thanked her husband for being her ‘forever partner in crime’.

The reasons behind the split are unclear.

‘They’re both focused on their 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren as their number one priority right now,’ a family representative said. ‘They ask that their privacy is respected.’
